Students who are citizens of the Czech Republic or have a permanent residence in the Czech Republic are covered by the public health insurance system.
Students from EU, EEA and Switzerland having the European health insurance card and do not have permanent residence in the Czech Republic are entitled to the provision of necessary and urgent health care. For other cases it is recommended to arrange travel insurance in their home country.
Students from non-EU countries must arrange insurance according to the legal regulations of the Czech Republic.
Travel medical insurance must cover the costs of emergency medical care, including costs related to medical evacuation or repatriation to the country that has issued the travel document or to the country of residence. The minimum coverage is 60 000 euros per one insured event without any coinsurance or copayment.
The insurance contract must not exclude coverage for cases of injury and damage caused by the student´s intentional act, contributory fault, by the consumption of alcohol, narcotic and psychotropic substances. Outgoing students are obliged to arrange travel insurance according the host country requirements before the departure.
